“Yokai” are spirits born from objects, nature, and supernatural phenomena. They once coexisted with humans as symbols of mystery—some even revered and worshipped. But as time passed, human greed and the limitless exploitation of natural resources ravaged the world, leaving nature with no voice to plead for mercy. When the spirits of nature began to fall apart, they did not simply disappear. Their spirits, filled with resentment and with nowhere left to go, merged with the waste and remnants of civilization abandoned by humankind. From this ruin, a new kind of being emerged: the **“Yokai of the Modern Age.”** They began to devour human lives—not merely as an act of destruction, but as a form of protest. A desperate attempt to reclaim their right to exist, and to remind humanity to turn back and care for the world it has neglected.
