หลายคน ๆ น่าจะเคยได้ยินเรื่องของ "นนทก" มาผ่าน ๆ เรื่องของ ยักษ์ผู้น้อยที่โดนรังแก ขอพรให้มีพลัง เอาคืน และโดนเทพปราบ สุดท้ายกลับชาติมาเกิดใหม่มีอำนาจ และโดนปราบเหมือนเดิม
งานนี้สนใจการเล่าเรื่องของนนทก และจินตนาการใหม่ บนความรุนแรงที่ส่งผ่าน วนซ้ำ และเกิดใหม่วนเวียนอยู่ในสังคมไทย โดยเฉพาะความรุนแรงที่เกิดขึ้นในบริบทความชายเป็นใหญ่ ที่ส่งต่อความรุนแรงกันวนเวียนไม่จบไม่สิ้น และชวนมองการเกิด การวนเวียน และอาจจะลองมองหารการดับไปของมันได้หรือไม่
Many Thais are likely familiar with the tale of "Nonthok," a minor yaksha who is bullied, prays for power to retaliate, is vanquished by a deity, and is ultimately reincarnated with greater power, only to be vanquished once again in the same endless cycle. This piece is interested in the narrative of Nonthok and his "reincarnations", and the reimagining of it through the lens of transmitted, recurring, and endlessly reborn violence in Thai society, Particularly on the violence occurring within the context of patriarchy. This work invites us to see its birth, its repetition, and perhaps discover whether its eventual cessation is possible.
